On November 11th, Microsoft is releasing the New XBOX Experience (NXE). This is a software overhaul of the current XBOX 360 OS that is supposed to change the way you interface with your console. One of the features allows you to install your games to the XBOX hard drive. You will still have to have your game disc in the drive to play, but it will only spin up when you start the game to verify that you own it. From then on it’s all hard drive. This seems like it will do two things, reduce wear on your optical drive, and speed up load times. Reducing the wear on your optical drive doesn’t need much testing, but will it really speed up load times? Check the link below.
